We adhere to the holistic principle that every ingredient has a purpose. Our meals are designed to heal and maintain health through balanced nutrition, guided by the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Every ingredient in our meals is carefully selected for its holistic healing properties. We focus on high protein, low carbohydrate recipes to support optimal health.
Owned and operated by holistic veterinarians, Chi Dog was founded by Dr. Bohrer, an Integrative Veterinarian certified in Traditional Chinese Food Therapy. She has long prescribed home-cooked diets as a clean alternative to processed dog food. The consistent and transformational improvements she witnessed in her patients led to the creation of Chi Dog, bringing these meals to dogs nationwide.
Whether your dog is healthy or has specific health needs, we can help. Use our food therapy to maintain balance or restore health with the right formulation for your dog's characteristics.

In our pursuit of understanding the intricate relationship between diet and intestinal inflammation in dogs, it's valuable to explore the perspective of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) Food Therapy. TCVM views inflammation, including that observed in canine inflammatory bowel issues, as often stemming from an imbalance in the body's vital energy, known as "Qi" (pronounced "chi"). These imbalances can manifest in various forms, such as excess heat, dampness, or even blockages in the flow of Qi, all of which can culminate in inflammation and the symptoms associated with IBD.
Processed foods are well documented to be pro-inflammatory, increasing risks of cancer, obesity, and diabetes in people. Newer research is even finding an association between processed food and cognitive decline. TCVM understands that to process a food is to put heat into it, thereby introducing Heat/ inflammation into our bodies when we consume processed foods.
We offer a variety of diets tailored to different needs and elements:
